Coaching vs. Counseling

Life Coaches help individuals do their best
in all areas of their life.

Most of us think of 'Coaching' as part of the sports professions or the arts field, in which a baseball Coach or a drama Coach would coach an athlete or actor to do and be their best. Life Coaches help individuals do and be their best in all areas of their lives. A coach provides an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.

Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.

Fearless LivingTM Life Coaching

Fearless Living is about freedom. Freedom from disappointment. Freedom from not being enough. Freedom from excuses and expectations. Freedom from anything that stands in the way of your ability to love, find your purpose and have the life you want.

As a Certified Fearless Living Life Coach I will assist you as you integrate the practical tools found in Rhonda Britten's book Fearless Living - Live Without Excuses and Love Without Regret. I will also show you how to identify your unconscious fear-based operating system we call your "Wheel of Fear." Then guide you step-by-step as you integrate the principles of Fearless Living into your life that will move you on to your "Wheel of Freedom."

Fearless Living will empower you to master the fear that stands between you and your ability to go anywhere you like, do anything you want, and meet anyone you please, once and for all.

Fearless Living is about discovering the freedom to live without the fears that prohibit you from accepting yourself and realizing your true potential.

What happens during a coaching session?

Most coaching sessions are conducted via phone. The initial session is primarily discovery-based. We will explore what is working in your life and what you'd like to improve. Subsequent sessions are based on Rhonda Britten's book Fearless Living. The coach assigns a reading assignment (usually one chapter of Fearless LIving) and associated homework that is completed prior to each coaching session. The reading and homework are your tools that bring awareness to each coaching session. In our coaching session, I will clarify and support you in more deeply integrating your awarenesses and the tools and skills that have been introduced.

How long do people work with a life coach?

The practical results-oriented approach of coaching motivates you to make the changes you want in your life in a relatively short time. The entire program takes a minimum of 12 sessions to complete, depending on individual needs and preferences. Factors that may impact the length of time include: the types of goals, working styles, and frequency of sessions. I invite my clients to make an initial commitment to themselves for a duration of 12 sessions and then meet as needed, usually 1-2 times per month.

Coaching vs. Counseling

From past to present
The major focus of counseling is to address the healing of medical conditions, which may be both psychological and/or physical in nature. Most states require therapists to hold special licenses and credentials, including medical degrees, in some cases. The therapeutic process may focus on the healing and resolution of issues rooted in the client's past, or issues related to abuse, addictions, or trauma response. Therapeutic services are most often delivered in person.

From why to how

Coaching by a Certified Fearless Living Coach (CFLC) is less concerned with a client’s remedial work (healing old wounds) and more focused on ‘what to do about it now’ approach. The main thrust of coaching is to develop the client's present and future life, through emphasizing the importance of taking specific actions to achieve their goals and dreams. The coach is someone who assists clients in breaking down goals, projects, and plans into practical, do-able action steps - without ' healing,' ' saving,' or ' fixing.' Certified Fearless Living Coaching sessions are action-oriented and give clients tools for maintaining forward momentum.

The Certified Fearless Living Coach coaching programs are not medical programs, a Certified Fearless Living Coach will not be practicing therapy, medicine, or providing crisis mitigation services during this program. Rather, many of Certified Fearless Living Coaches hold advanced degrees and training in fields including business, education, training, coaching, and human resources and development. In addition, they are also trained in key essential coaching competencies that complement their specialized professional experience. Certified Fearless Living Coaches conduct coaching sessions via telephone consultations and in person - for groups, organizations, and individuals.

   What is this ?
"What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it."
~Jiddu Krishnamurt
